Founder of the Yoga Therapy & Training Centre, Marie Quail is Director of studies and a yoga therapist with an intuitive ability when using yoga to treat medical conditions.

Dedicated to a lifetime of yoga practice, with several teaching certificates including Bihar and Iyengar qualifications, Marie has also contributed to the teaching on many highly regarded teacher training organisations. The Yoga Biomedical Trust and the Ruth White Yoga Centre, London, Irish Yoga Association, Yoga Society of Ireland, The British Wheel of Yoga and the Sydney Yoga Centre, Australia.

 

 

 

 

Roy Griffin - YTTC Director

Roy has been practising Ghana yoga since his youth and has a strong interest in Asanas, Pranayama and living meditation. His initial training was with Sivananda Vedenta International and his continued studies included time in Ashrams in Canada and the Bahamas. In 2003 he began his YTTC Yoga Tutors’ Certificate Course under the personal direction of Marie Quail, and was awarded his certificate of competence in 2005. In 2007 Roy became director of the YTTC.

 

 

 

 

Majella McIntyre

 

Majella is a YTTC qualified yoga teacher and therapist and a member of the British Council of Yoga Therapy. She has travelled to India to further her studies and continues to study all aspects of yoga by attending numerous workshops and conferences. She is a YTTC Post-Graduate with 500 hours of yoga training and now offers yoga classes and teacher training courses in her studio at YTTC L'Derry. Majella also has certificates in Reiki 1 & 11, Seichim 1 & 11 and Karuna Reiki.

 

 

 

 

Nicole Henkel

 

Nicole has been practising auto-suggestive relaxation since she was a child. She came to Ireland to finish her Masters. She fell in love with the people and the country. Nicole then trained with Marie Quail (YTTC) to become a full time Yoga teacher. She studied Anatomy and Physiology and graduated as a Massage therapist. She became the official Yoga teacher for the Munster Rugby Academy and taught the 'Munster Boys' in Cork and Limerick. In 2006 she trained to become a Pre-Natal Yoga teacher and opened up the Cork Movement Centre.

Nicole became Director of YTTC Cork (Ireland's largest training organisation) in 2007

 

 

 

 

Suzanne Cooper -

Having first practised yoga in the late 1970’s, Suzy trained with the YTTC as a yoga teacher. She followed this up with the Level Two Teacher Training and the Yoga Therapy Diploma Course. She also completed her Pranayama teaching certificate with Philip Xerri and holds a further diploma in Anatomy and Physiology. Suzy teaches yoga full time with her main area of teaching in Yoga for Special Needs. Suzy will cover the Anatomy Module, Asana practice and Teaching Skills aspects of the course.

 

 

 

 

Paddy Hamill -

Paddy began his training with Marie Quail in 1995 and continued on with Elizabeth Connolly. He now holds qualifications in both YTTC and Iyengar yoga systems. In 2002 Paddy trained as a tutor with Marie Quail and continues to contribute to all YTTC training courses. In 2007 he became Director of the YTTC Lisburn where he runs a yoga centre as well as the YTTC Level One and Two Diploma Courses.

 

 

 

 

Michael Mcann

Michael’s interest in Yoga extends back to 1970 when as a youth he met Swami Satyananda Saraswati. His teachers have been Swami Atmananda Saraswati, Swami Satyamurti Satyananda, Norma Duffield of the Yoga Centre of Ireland, Swami Nishchalananda Saraswati of Manadala Yoga Ashram and Marie Quail. Michael is a YTTC trained Yoga teacher and a Senior Tutor on the Yoga Teacher Training Courses. Michael has a deep interest in Yoga Philosophy, Comparative Religions and the body of teaching known as Perennial Wisdom. Michael contributes to the Philosophy module, and is responsible for the Subtle Anatomy, Relaxation and Meditation modules. He has written many articles on all aspects of Yoga.

 

 

 

 

Valerie McCrory -

Valerie, a YTTC trained Yoga teacher/tutor and therapist, is also a Reiki Healer and Reflexologist. She is responsible for the Pranayama module on the Level One Diploma Courses and is a graduate of the Philip Xerri Pranayama teacher-training course.

 

 

 

 

Helen Macbroom - Yoga Philosophy and Meditation Tutor

Helen began her involvement in Yoga in 1966 with Mahesh Joshi in Belfast. Subsequently she trained for 5 years under one of India’s foremost Yogis, Swami Satyananda Saraswati and his disciple, Swami Atmananda. In 1985 she involved herself in Bhakti Yoga, and spent the next 15 years practicing Bhakti and studying the ancient Indian texts, Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam. Helen has been teaching in the community since 1974 and has now taken up tutoring in Yoga Philosophy and Meditation on our Level One Diploma Course. She currently runs classes in the more esoteric aspects of Yoga not available from the normal providers.

 

 

 

 

Madeline Callaghan -

Madeline has been practicing Yoga and Meditation for nearly thirty years. Along with teaching certificates in Yoga (both remedial and general), Madeline has certificates in Counselling Skills, Conflict Resolution & Mediation Skills. A graduate of the University of Ulster, Madeline has many qualifications including an Honours in Psychology.She has completed a Raja Yoga Course in Africa and has lived in a Ghandi Ashram in Bali where Bhakti yoga was the order of the day. She attended retreat houses within Ireland where prayer meditation and introspection are an integral part of their daily life. She has been attending lectures run by the Irish School of Philosophy for five years on a weekly basis. Madeline will deliver the Philosophy Module in L'Derry.

 

 

 

 

Clare Desmond-

A graduate from the Acupuncture Foundation affiliated to the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine China, Clare is also a registered licensed Chinese Acupuncturist practising in Derry. She is a member of the Northern Ireland Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This course provided a strong foundation in bothWestern Medical Sciences, Anatomy, Physiology, Diseases and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Clare has been practising yoga for seven years and will contribute to the Anatomy and Physiology Module in L'Derry

 

 

 

 

Paula Flood -

Paula has completed both 1st & 2nd stage teacher-training courses at the YTTC. She has also studied with Acharya Upendra Roy in Sydney and at the Vivekananda ashram in Bangalore. Paula meditates regularly on the spiritual heart centre and is guided in this practice by Sri Chinmoy, a spiritual teacher based in New York. She is a YTTC trained tutor. Paula teaches general yoga and yoga for pregnancy classes in the Dublin area.
